The South Oldham Fire Protection District board was formed under KRS Chapter 75 and consists of seven (7) members, three (3) of the members of the board of trustees are appointed by the county judge/executive or mayor in a consolidated local government. Two (2) of the members of the board of trustees shall be firefighter representatives who actively serve on the department and who are elected by the members of the fire department. Two (2) members of the board of trustees shall be property owners who own real or personal property which is subject to the fire protection tax, who personally reside in the district, and who are not active firefighters and shall be elected by the property owners of the district. On the expiration of the representative terms, the successor to each position on the board shall be appointed for a term of three (3) years. 

The South Oldham Fire Protection District board's primary role is to set the tax rate for each fiscal year and collect the tax income. The South Oldham Fire Protection District board contracts with South Oldham Fire Department, Inc. to provide emergency services to the South Oldham Fire Protection District.

​The South Oldham Fire Protection District board meets on the fourth Monday of each month, 7:30 pm, at South Oldham Fire Department Station 1 located at 6310 Old LaGrange Road in Crestwood, KY 40014. The board does not meet on holidays that fall on the regular scheduled meeting date and time, and there is no December meeting. Any deviation in the boards regularly scheduled meeting will be posted on this website.

South Oldham Fire Department, Inc.

The South Oldham Fire Department Incorporated board was formed under KRS Chapter 273 and consists of 24 members which providing a more extensive representation of the community.  The board holds all assets of the fire department and is responsible for the management of the tax money and making financial decisions.

Members of the Incorporated board serve three (3) year terms that run on fiscal year cycles from July 1st to June 30th. Each year, eight (8) members of the Incorporated board are up for election on their three (3) year term. Of those twenty-four (24) members, two (2) members shall be designated firefighter representative positions, to be filled by the same firefighter representatives who serve on the South Oldham Fire Protection District Board of Trustees pursuant to KRS 75.031. Although all other Members of the South Oldham Fire Department, Inc. Board serve for a three (3) year term, said firefighter representatives shall serve for a term of four (4) years in order to maintain continuity. Said term of service for firefighter representatives shall run concurrent with his/her term on the District Board. ​

Members of the incorporated board are also assigned to serve on sub-committees which are appointed by the Chairman, as needed, to serve the department and its members.
