SOFA Mission Statement
The mission of SOFA is to support the South Oldham Fire Department by providing volunteer support during times of emergency and official department functions, act as a support system that will benefit South Oldham Fire Department and their community, to participate in community service projects, to promote community support of the SOFD and its members, and to promote fellowship among the firefighters, their families, and auxiliary members. The South Oldham Fire Auxiliary (SOFA), founded in 2012, is seeking individuals who want to support South Oldham Fire Department and their community, but are not interested in becoming a firefighter. The mission of SOFA is to support the South Oldham Fire Department by providing volunteer support during times of emergency and official department functions, act as a support system that will benefit South Oldham Fire Department and their community, to participate in community service projects, to promote community support of the SOFD and its members, and to promote fellowship among the firefighters, their families, and auxiliary members.
The auxiliary was developed so it could fit into anyone’s life style who wants to give back to their community yet, at the same time, have the flexibility to meet the needs of their everyday life. Support comes in many forms; rehabilitation on scene to provide our firefighters with the liquids and nourishment needed to help maintain their strength and stamina while they perform the difficult and dangerous duties of firefighting, help with Crusade for Children activities, fundraising, community events and outreach to any number of other activities. Meetings are the second Tuesday of each month at 6:30 in the SOFD Community room. SOFD Auxiliary does not discriminate against sex, race or creed. |

- Crusade for Children. Annual event in May and June
- 5K/5 Mile Fire Run to support the Crusade for Children and the R.E.S.T. Program. Annual event in May.
- Grant writing. Occurring throughout the year.
- Fire Fest
- Boo Dell with Yew Dell Gardens. Annual event in October.
- Chili Cook Off. Annual event in November
- Keep Oldham County Warm, coat drive. Annual winter event.
